Native and non-native users of English
Red Pen Inc. has worked with great success on material written by users of English from both a native and non-native speaking background, including: novelists, playwrights, scientists (physicists, chemists, geneticists, etc), civil and mechanical engineers, artists (fine and graphic), lawyers (criminal, civil, constitutional and international), journalists, ranks of all levels in the armed services (naval and army a speciality), Members of Parliament and students from a variety of disciplines.
In terms of assisting those who use English as a foreign or second language, Red Pen Inc. has taught the language at all levels and been employed in an examining capacity by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, the British Council and the Australian Board of Education. As such, Red Pen Inc. is ideally placed to offer help to non-native speakers regarding mistakes common to their nationalities when using English.
What Red Pen Inc. does
Red Pen Inc. corrects and advises. Corrections are made to: grammar, punctuation, spelling, word order, collocation, sentence structure and paragraphing, etc. Advice is also give on aspects of: style, register and layout.
What Red Pen Inc. does not do
Red Pen Inc. only corrects and advises on linguistic and presentational matters, it does not alter or make suggestions with respect to the intellectual content of any submissions. Moreover, Red Pen Inc. does not work on notes, formative or preparatory drafts and the like. Red Pen Inc will only proof/polish material forwarded in final copy form (ie: in a form that the submitter considers ready and complete for the ultimate recipients of the document concerned).
Charges
£30/hour. This basic charge is negotiable dependent upon the length of the document.
